Four Meals A Day

Some people get confused,
About the meals we eat.
I'll try to explain it,
So I need not repeat.
If you should come to my house,
Let's say, you spend the night
"Breakfast" is the meal,
We'd serve at first light.
Then should we go fishing,
And won't be back real soon,
We'll pack a bag or box,
For our meal at noon.
That bag or box of goodies,
upon which we would munch,
Is never called anything,
But what's known as "lunch".
If we were real lucky,
and caught a mess of fish,
We'd have them for "supper".
They'd make a swell dish.
Some people call that "dinner."
That's where they're confused,
And when it comes to "supper."
That word, they don't use.
No, "dinner's" a "sit down" meal,
Served with forks, knives and spoons,
And if you are invited,
You best show up at noon.
It really doesn't matter.
It shouldn't cause a spat.
Most of us eat them all.
That's why we're so fat.
