Look Back

At the little Country Church,
down at the crossroads,
nieghbors used to meet there,
coming by the wagon loads.
When it was time for Services,
you could always tell.
The Preacher called the Flock,
with the ringing of the bell.
There are lots of memories,
of those days that I recall,
but the one on which I reflect,
is the favorite of them all.
That little congregation,
was quite apt at giving praise,
especially when they gathered,
on their Worship Days.
As the Services started,
they would begin to sing.
You'd thought the Heavenly Angels,
had come visiting.
"Nearer My God To Thee,"
was sung as a prayer.
The beauty of that song,
assured them, God was there.
Those old calloused farmers,
were tender hearted men,
who served a Loving God,
on whom they could depend.
Their search was for the Truth,
not what some man thought.
That's what they believed,
and that's what they taught.
They walked in the Old Pathes,
that were tried and true,
not seeking after change,
and things that were new.
So look back, my friend.
In the past you may find,
a Hope for eternity,
in what was lift behind.
