Peace

Peace is like still waters,
Of a clear mirrored lake.
No harsh wind is blowing,
nor ripples does it make.

Think not for a moment,
It will remain that way,
Unless we guard the shoreline,
Being careful what we say.
Its depth has much bearing,
On how much it takes,
To cause a disturbance,
That the stillness breaks.

Words are like pebbles,
Tossed upon the sheen,
If they are spiteful,
Thoughtless, or even mean.
Take not Peace for granted,
Nor neglect its every need.
Daily watch and nourish,
And its warning signs heed.

The greatest Peace we know,
Is hard to understand.
It's the Peace, when God
Is in accord with Man.
