Rose Gardens

There once was a time,
my heart was full of doubt,
when I prayed to God,
to kindly, help me out.
"My life has not been,
a garden full of posies."
"Would you please, dear God.
make it a little more rosy?"
The next thing I knew,
I was flat on my back.
I nearly lost my life,
from a heart attack.
I was getting over that,
and back on my feet,
when my son was hit,
and left lying in the street.
My mind was in shambles.
My heart was full of pain.
I was at my wit's end,
so I prayed to God again.
"Lord I asked for roses.
There's a mistake, I'm sure.
All I've got so far,
is loads of manure."
The Lord said, "Son,
I thought you would know;
it takes lots of fertilizer,
to make those flowers grow."
You know, - he was right.
My heart's no longer hardened.
Now my life is as peaceful,
as a beautiful flower garden.
