"Rued" Words
© By Grady L. Duncan

Many years have gone by since I was young.
Millions of words have flowed from my tongue.
Some may have been rude and caused offense,
Spoken in anger, not using good sense.
Where are all of those words today?
Whose heart has taken and stored them away?
Whose life was changed by what I said?
Do I have cause, the judgment to dread?
I'm sure my anger, at times, went too far,
Wounding some hearts and leaving a scare.
If only those words, I could erase,
And put sincere words of love in their place.
Now thinking of what might have been,
If not spoken, you'd be my friend.
For what time in life that remains,
I pray that we may be friends again.
May peace be restored between us now.
The Lord in his Word has shown us how.
I'm sorry for wrongs I've done in the past,
Praying our friendship is renewed at last.
