Silver & Gold

"Silver and gold, have I none,"
was not what he expected,
when the lame man begged for alms.
I'm sure he felt dejected.
"Such as I have, I give thee,"
was a blessing worth much more.
Now the man could leap and run,
though he'd never walked before.
Thirty pieces of silver,
surely took their toll,
When Judas betrayed our Lord,
it cost him his very soul.
They bought the blood of Jesus.
Then they were thrown away.
The prescious blood he shed,
could've paid for Judas' sin that day.
We pray to God for riches,
of silver and of gold,
yet, we refuse to accept,
the price paid for our souls.
Silver bars by the trainload,
nor gold by the ton,
would be a fair exchange,
for what our Lord has done.
