Singing and Swinging

In my past were moments so dear.
With fondness, I remember them clear,
Of the times that we'd sing,
As we'd merrily swing,
Trying our four-part harmony.
From the porch-swing, our voices would swell,
Until we were beginning to yell.
There we'd sing in the night,
In the gentle moonlight,
Songs that bring tears, just trying to tell.
Some, all of the family would join in,
Trying our voices to blend.
Then we'd sing with delight,
For most of the night,
Until us children had to turn-in.
We'd sing songs like, "Old Apple Tree",
Or, "Bring Back My Bonnie To Me."
I know, this is why,
I almost cry
When I hear those sweet melodies.
(To the rythmn of "The Old Apple Tree)
