Trees

Trees are a wonderful blessing, indeed,
Supplying us variably, things that we need.
Their beauty is there, for us to behold.
In winter they warm us, when it is cold.
In summer, they shade us, from the heat of the sun,
and cradle our children as they have fun.
They nourish the soil, with their leaves, day by day.
Their roots keep it all, from washing away.
Their lumber we take, to build many things.
Their branches give joy, on old tire swings.
They replenish the air, and help it stay clean.
From the fluids inside, many products we glean.
From their fiber, we mill paper products so white,
On which to draw, and many letters to write.
They yield in the fall, fruits and berries so sweet,
Providing God's creatures with good things to eat.
From their leafy branches, the birds sweetly sing,
There, they care for their young, until they take wing.
On many a tree trunk, man's cravings are clear,
Telling the world, of moments so dear.
Their lives are forfeit, that we may survive,
Thus, they diminish, while we still thrive.
And finally, we die and give up our souls.
Then caskets of their wood, may our bodies enfold.
