What Would You Say?
© By Grady L. Duncan 7/16/02
If we were on a budget,
for the words we use each day,
and had to give an account,
for every word we chose to say,
would we choose the words
that we usually do,
or would we talk much different,
with conversation, totally new?
What if we received a coin,
of the purest shiny gold,
each time we used those words,
to cheer some troubled soul,
or, used our words to comfort,
to encourage and bring relief,
to lift up the fallen,
and restore someone's belief?
Would we curse and swear,
taking the Lord's name in vain,
if each time we swore,
it caused us physical pain,
or, would we spend our words,
telling that old, old story,
and win some lost soul,
and bring God praise and glory?
Many of us have forgotten,
what was said by our Lord,
"Ye shall give an account,
for each and every word."
Our words are important,
so we must carefully choose.
By them, comes the verdict,
of whether we win or lose.
