Who's There!

I had just taken my place, in front of the old TV,
with a fresh bag of popcorn, and a glass of Iced Tea,
when I heard a noise, and a banging on the door.
It happened so sudden, I spilled my popcorn on the floor.
The dog was acting strange.  Then he began to bark.
Something had aroused him, out there in the dark.
My first inclination, was to get my trusty gun.
My knees felt like rubber.  My feet wanted to run.
My wife ran in the bathroom, closed and locked the door.
The noise and the banging, got louder than before.
I needed to do something, but I didn't know, what.
It could have been a Terrorist, carrying out his plot.
I got up my courage, to try to get a look.
I was now prepared to fight, if that was what it took.
Approaching the door with caution, I looked through the "peephole",
and saw a ghoulish figure, that chilled me to my soul.
There stood a creature, just about my size,
with a head like a dragon, with red fiery eyes.
It had a tall scaly body, and short stubby arms.
If it should attack me, it would surely do me harm.
I slowly opened the door, to face the dreaded beast.
Though I was acting brave, I was scared, to say the least.
I now could see it all, from his head to his feet.
Then a face from its belly, hollered, "TWICK 'R' TWEAT"!
Boy, was I relieved.  It was now a different scene.
My wife and I had forgotten, that it was "Halloween".
It was just our great-grandson, from the house next door,
dressed in his costume, that looked like a dinosaur.
